In operation since 1923, ABF Freight System, Inc.ฎ, is one of North Americas oldest and most reputable motor carriers. ABF handles 23,000 shipments comprising 28,500,000 pounds of freight a day. It moves approximately $16 billion of freight and household goods every year.
ABFs core business is less-than-truckload (LTL) shipping, consolidating freight from multiple shippers into a single truckload. However, ABF also has the ability, means, and expertise to handle virtually any shipping challenge.
Less than one percent of the shipments ABF handled during the past decade sustained a loss or damage claim. Thats a record no other national carrier comes close to matching.
ABF also has an unmatched level of billing accuracy 99.4% percent rated correctly.
ABF operates one of the newest, best-maintained fleets on the road over 4000 tractors and over 20,000 trailers. It has 290 customer-service centers and 10 distribution facilities strategically located throughout North America.
ABF leads the transportation industry in launching Internet-based applications, providing the latest innovative solutions for facilitating freight transportation.
Led by President and Chief Executive Officer Robert Davidson, ABF employs over 13,000 people, including 7,000 drivers, and is the largest subsidiary of Arkansas Best Corporation (NASDAQ: ABFS).
ABF revenue for 2006 was approximately $1.810 billion.
